Introduction

Welcome to my blog.  If you do not know, I am a type 2 diabetic who has pancreatic inflamation three times within the last five years.  I am realizing on the brink of my 37 birthday, it is time to take my health more seriously then I have in the past.  For if I continue on the health road I have been on for the past 37 years, I may see my fortieth birthday, but my fiftieth is in question.   So, I have been making small changes in the way I eat and the way I exercise as well as making sure I keep my doctor appointments and take my medications.

Also, I have joined a company that sells natural/ green products that are safe for the environment and extremely healthy.  I have been using their shakes, energy bars and supplements to begin with.  These products are changing my life.  If you would like to learn more about them, let me know.

Since my hospital visit in May, I am down fifteen pounds and going.  It has not been easy.  I am not going to lie.  I think that I was born addicted to sugar and learning how to overcome this addiction is like learning how to 'die daily' in the flesh in order to live with God in the spirit.  It is extremely difficult but will be worth it in the end.

One tip that has helped me a lot is learning how to cut ten percent of my calorie intake out of my diet every day.  In the past, I have felt like so many want you to get on a crash diet and change all your eating habits at once in order to loose 20 lbs in a month.  For some of us that are food dependent, this sounds good and we may be able to do it for a day or two; others may be able to hold up for a week; and the rest of us may be able to keep it up til we loose the 20 lbs, but sooner or later, we all will fail and end up back in our old eating routines.

Taking ten percent off my calorie intake has been so much easier.  For me, it means instead of buying a frappichino, I buy an iced tea with sweet and low.  So many less calories and cheaper too.  It has also meant instead of sugary night snacks or potato chips or even a fourth meal before bed, I have been eating sunflower seeds or a piece of fruit.  Sometimes, I will eat a bowl of cooked veggies to fill that void.

Ten percent of your calories may look different then it does for me.  The theory though is if you reduce your calorie intake by 10 percent for twelve weeks, you should loose ten percent of your weight in that time.  So, if you weigh 180, if you do this, in twelve weeks, you should loose eighteen pounds.  Seems like a long time. However, you will not only loose the weight, you will be used to eating this way and be able to keep it off.

Well, thank you for reading my blog.  I am hoping that I can continue to motivate you to eat healthy and join me on the road to good nutrition.  If you have any questions or comments or want me to discuss something, let me know.  Blessings.
